Did you know that when individuals are released from Middlesex County Jail most of them leave without being able to make a phone call to arrange for a ride? And they leave carrying whatever belongings they had with them when they were incarcerated in a clear plastic bag?

NeighborCorps Re-Entry Services is a community-based program that helps people transition successfully from Middlesex County Jail back into their communities. We rely on volunteers to provide mentoring and support to participants on their re-entry journeys. Email Austin at for more information about volunteering. Visit www.neighborcorpsreentry.org or on Facebook.

Ethnos is partnering with NeighborCorps to replace the stigma that clear plastic bag carries by participating in a backpack drive!

A simple donation of a gently used or new backpack can make a big difference to someone who may be re-entering the community with very little (You’re welcome to put a new pair of socks, toiletries, a water bottle, notepad and pen, etc. in the backpack).

Talk to Olivia Ajiake (510) 366-9784 at Ethnos for more info about our donation collection site on Sundays in May.
